In my previous post on how to catch comment spam bots, I have mention that Akismet catch most of the comment spam bots but it can’t stop them from getting through comment page. Bad Behaviours plugin is a nice plugin to make sure spam bots can’t get through WordPress unless it passes certain set conditions and rules.
This doesn’t mean Akismet plugin didn’t do its work to identify a suspected spam bots but Akismet checks on WordPress comments only. Spam bots still can land on your page and take up your blog bandwidth.
After all, spammers write their bots on the cheap, and have little incentive to code very well. If they could code very well, they probably wouldn’t be spammers.
For better results, Akismet plugin must always active and installed with latest version. With this double protection, Akismet + Bad Behaviours, spam bots getting difficult or maybe impossible to get through. It will be block even before it reach WordPress page which mean you can save some bandwidth used by spam bots.
