How to Configure Windows Live Writer 2009

Read my previous post on how to obtain Windows Live Writer 2009 and what’s new features available to this release if you haven’t do so. After you have download the installation file and install in your desktop, you can start using it. Before you can fully use Windows Live Writer, you need to configure some of the options from your blog and make sure it can works perfectly with your blog.

1. Start Windows Live Writer 2009 application from your desktop. Click next to continue.

2. Choose your blogging platform. You can use either Windows Live Spaces, WordPress, Blogger, TypePad or others.

3. Enter your blog information. Click next to continue.

4. If you see an error like above, your blog is not allow XML-RPC services. To enable XML-RPC services, go to WordPress Settings and then Writing. Check the box to enable “XML-RPC†on the Writing options page, and save the settings.

5. After you have set XML-RPC services, click next and you will see above screen loading.

6. This is an option to download your theme files. If you choose “Yes”, it will start download all the files require by your current theme such as CSS and images of current theme.

7. Done. You can start writing your posts in Windows Live Writer 2009 now. As you press Publish button, it will automatically synchronize back to WordPress.
Conclusion
Some of the theme files are not display properly in Windows Live Writer 2009 when you preview the post. There are still have some limitation in this 2009 version but it is almost a perfect tool for blogging. It can be an alternative blogging tool when your internet connection is down. If you like to do offline blogging, this is a good blogging tool for you also.
