Blogging Tips, Making Money Online January 23rd, 2010

Introduction
hubpages.com is a free blogging tools for everyone. If you know what is Squidoo, you will know what is hubpages. While you can host your blog for free, you can earn revenue also when you are posting a topic in your hub. A hub is a topic indeed. hubpages works by sharing revenue among its hubber(blogger) who consistently write good quality contents in their page. There are many informative contents if you do a search on the website. Most of the quality and lengthy topics share by hubber.
You can write any topics you want and there are varieties of categories for your topic to be choose. What’s good about hubpages is that it is a CMS tool just like WordPress. But wordpress is more powerful and more controls than hubpages.com because there are limitation that hubber have to follow. Such as all the links inside the topics will be a “nofollow” attributes. hubpages don’t recommend hubber to link to other websites because this will decrease their link juice.
What’s so good about it?
Hubber can include their Adsense code into each of the post. Not only Adsense is supported, hubber also can add Kontera links to increase their earning. If both of these opportunities are not enough, there are still other like Amazon buying list, Ebay… Hubber can customize the position of Amazon code (Up, Bottom, In between paragraph)
Besides that, there are millions of posts sharing across your network. You can follow them and get updates of their latest posts. Random related posts will be display at the right panel of your post which means that your posts will have chances to appear in other hubber’s posts also!
Compare to a new blog with hubpages, starting new posts in hubpages seems to have more benefits since new blog need time to grow while hubpages is already have 5 years of services on blogosphere and millions of posts in the community. Google will surely recognize and crawl website effectively.
What’s more?
Recently, there is a feature call “Hubtivity” which appear at the right side on the homepage once hubber login into their account. It will show recent activity or achievement of hubber.

This is a cool feature for hubber to keep in touch with the recent event and achievement by others.
Each post’s quality is determine by a score call Hubscore. The score is determined by quality of your content, traffics sources, comments you have made, and how helpful you are in the community.
What’s bad then?
You have to share revenue you earn from Adsense, Kontera and so on with them. You can only get up to 60% of the revenue earn. This is the cost of using their free services and tools. But actually it may not seems so bad at all.
The post editing is very limited but user friendly. Hubber can click Up or Bottom to arrange the elements like (text, links, photo). There is no code script or manual code needed. But for professional coder or editor who wants to have special customize design find some limitation in there.
Conclusion
Blogger who want to look for other opportunities can give a try on hubpages. Below are two posts I have made in hubpages. Not much. It is too little to see any traffic yet but I will add more random posts in the meantime.

hi elie,
Thanks for visiting my blog. You can check that easily with “Inspect Element” if you are using Google Chrome or Firefox
Normally, they do that because they want to protect users from linking outside and prevent users spamming their URL on the content.
