Today, I am not working in office but I am joining one of the largest Microsoft event. Microsoft just launch the new Visual Studio 2010 with a lot of improvements and changes to existing version 2008. Many features can be integrate into Visual Studio itself such as Sharepoint integration, Silverlight, Ribbon, and much more.
Developing Sharepoint in Visual Studio 2010 has simplify a lot of process. I remember last time using Sharepoint 2007, and creating any single stuff in Sharepoint 2007 is a pain. The configuration is very difficult for newbie and very confusing. It needs to open a few pages before you can reach your desire configuration page. While Sharepoint 2010 use a lot of Ribbon technology that you can see many of it in office 2007 menu bar. It is very easy to find what you wanted, on the same page.
Another key feature is parallel programming which utilizes more than one core of processor. Mostly application develop don’t utilize more than one core processor. By maximizing the usage of both core processor, the processing speed is double up.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 simplifies the entire development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
Overall, not all the talks are interesting. Other stuffs like Windows Azure, Team Foundation Server, and Silverlight. Those are the things that are still very new in Malaysia. Not many companies are using these because all have its own reason to use.
