We pay for RM88 per month for the 1MB streamyx package but we are not really getting up to 500kbps on downstream. I check on my new D-Link DSL-520B for any firewall blocked on internet connection but no luck finding it. The modem is just working fine without any problem. While other people said that is a common problem of people living at high rise building.
The worst part is that I can’t even get half the speed of 1MB. I did a speedometer test on streamyx website. It stays at 375kpbs cap no matter how hard I have tried. All downloads are already turn off and there are no active downloads at the moment.
I have try to check on google and forum also but nothing much user manual settings or tweak that I can found. Well, I think it is time to call them again to verify what is happening since we pay more than what we get from the internet speed. I am using the same internet speed at my office and I can even open video streaming without lagging. If I am going to open youtube video at home, it gonna take me more than 10 minutes to finish loading. Maybe it is one of the reason but below 50% of actual speed is kind of frustrated.
Sometimes I really wonder how they are doing to maintain the quality service since TM has just launch new High Speed Broadband (HSBB) not long ago. Should I upgrade it to 5Mbps at RM149 per month? Or call them until they are going to give me back 1Mbps internet speed?

Seriously, you need to call TM on your issue. I am using the same package but can reach up to 1700++Kbps max.

tested the speed already but still same. I guess my area is too crowded. It is getting fast speed only after midnight and early in the morning. Plan to move to unifi support area at end of the year
I have the same problem with you, just that my download cap is at 440kbps. I noticed in https://tmbill.tm.net.my/ today that my monthly statement wrote “SUBSCRIPTION
Streamyx G.Lite Home (512k) Basic 88 (10/04/10 – 09/05/10)”?
This could probably explaine why I am getting 440kbps. I wrote a furios mail to TM and now waiting for their reply.
