What’s New in Internet Explorer 9

Microsoft launch a new big improvement to Internet Explorer 9. There are many new features and interfeace redesigned on the new browser. Unlike IE7 and IE8, you hardly notice any huge difference between them.

The redesigned Internet Explorer 9 also gives better speed performance to user by utilizing hardware rendering on windows platform. It is more fast and responsive than ever. I remember that when I am a website developer I hate to use Internet Explorer since the version 6. Even after IE7 and IE8 has been implement, it is slow and sluggish compare to Firefox and Google Chrome. All the development progress is slow when using the default windows browser.

Finally, IE9 brings a new light to Internet Explorer history. The all-around-fast browser is utilizing graphic capabilities, hardware-accelerated text and videos to give better web experience to user.

Cool Features on Internet Explorer 9

Related Tabs with Color

Having a lot of tabs opened can be confusing at times. You will be able to see same color tabs that are related. However, there is a little bug here when you move the color tabs around, the color would be change and not related anymore. But it is still great to see each color related tabs.

Tear-off tabs

Whenever you want to take out the tab to open in new window, you can do that by dragging the tab out of browser window. It will appear in a new window. You can pin the tab into taskbar and favorites site

Most Popular Sites

When you open new tab, the following most popular visited sites will be shown. It is like the one you saw on Google Chrome and Firefox but without preview of the site content. It shows the logo only.

Add-ons Load Time

You are able to see all the add-ons load time and disable it to improve your site loading speed. Some add-ons require few seconds to load, hence you can disable it if the add-on is not using anymore. Enabling and disabling does not require browser restart. So, it is very convenient.

Tabs Recovery

While your browser crash in the midst of surfing, your sessions will be restored automatically. Leaving your browsing experience uninterrupted.

Conclusion

Despite of many improvements and new features on Internet Explorer 9, it is still lack on some features like ability to resize textarea, and automatic spelling check. These features already exist in other browsers.

I am not a fans of Internet Explorer. However, after I downloaded it, I decided to try it more and explore more new features on IE9. It is really not that bad comparing with older version.

However, given the statistic and benchmark score on other sites, the IE developer still not able to make the its browser become the best browser in the world yet. It is expected the next Google Chrome version will be better once the hardware acceleration has been fully utilize. Futhermore, Chrome 11 beta is already available now.

I really like this new look Internet Explorer.

Though it has taken quite some time, IE is catching up with the like of Firefox and very soon, maybe even with IE9, the paradigm will shift.

Hi Peter.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yeah. IE9 is catching up with Firefox and Chrome. But many users had switch to other browsers over the years. Unless IE team comes out with something new that increase user experience, the competition is very tough.
