Apple is going to release iOS 4.3.3 which aim to fix the current location tracking issue that everyone concern about. Apple did mention that they did not track the location of iPhone users. Although Steve Jobs does said that, iPhone users still have the right to not share their location data to everyone.
Currently, even you have turn off location services on iPhone, the location data still sent to Apple. So, the only way to fix this issue is release a new iOS which prevent iPhone from collecting your location data.
If you want to know more reasons of why Apple store your location data, you can read Apple Q&A on Location Data.
Apple has announced that they will release a new iOS software update that fix the following issues:
- reduces the size of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database cached on the iPhone,
- ceases backing up this cache, and
- deletes this cache entirely when Location Services is turned off.
In the next major iOS software release the cache will also be encrypted on the iPhone.
Apple has really taken initiative steps to overcome everyone’s privacy matter. Hopefully, the next iOS update will prevent our location from being track and view using tool like iPhone Tracker.
