Apple has updated the iOS developer starter page with more easy to navigate links and simple step by step guide to iOS apps development. The road map started with initial setup page and other fundamentals step to focus attention more to the user instead of directly jump to the programming.

The guide also teaches you to install the require tools for development. To find out more details about each step, you need to click on the bottom link and go to full iOS developer library to get more reference for your apps.

The new starter guide is just a simple walk through for developing iOS apps. It is useful for beginner or newbie iOS developer who wish to develop their first apps. In order to develop more advance features or games, going to other tutorial blogs might be a better choice for new developer who are not very familiar with objective-C language.

As the Apple developer library is overloaded with programming reference and first comer might find the information is too much for them to learn further.

After all, creating first iOS apps is fun and interesting. Although I have struggle to come out with my first iOS game before, I find it is wasted because I didn’t complete the whole apps design and publish it on the App Store.

Find out more information for Apple iOS developer road map.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a new update for their RedSn0w jailbreak tool. The new update will fix issues for iBooks and crashing of custom ramdisk for iPhone 3G and iPod 2G devices.

Update #5: redsn0w version b5 incorporates yet another fix for iBooks, this time involving DRM. @planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly. This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak. As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).

Updates #5b and #5c: Version b5b fixes an issue with using custom ramdisks on iPhone3G and iPod2G, and version b5c prevents redsn0w from crashing due to the ever-growing ramdisk size .
TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

It is good to always upgrade your jailbroken device the latest version of Redsn0w that include performance stability or bug fixes.

AntHill is a very high quality graphics strategy ant game that require a lot of management and action skill to defend your base from enemies. As the game level increase, there are more powerful enemy ants appear in the game. You will need to upgrade your units to sustain the battle and fight with powerful enemy.

The game is currently in promotion for free to download. Developer may revert the price to original once the promotion is over. Below is the game review in my own opinion.

The game start with mission accomplishment and simple tasks given by the on-screen tutorial. The game had plenty of useful tutorial and will pop up as soon as there is new unit or strong enemy. Whenever you feel the game challenge increase, you can always refer to hint given to help you win.

The game also require line drawing skill to have your units patrol automatically within the line. Any enemy encounter during the patrol, the soldiers will automatically attack the enemy but for flying units need to manually control the bomb attack destination.

Each unit in the game had their own purpose and unique ability such as worker, soldiers, flying unit and ground unit. Each unit also had additional upgrades that can be apply when you have obtain enough stars for the upgrade.

Don’t worry if you can’t get 3 or more stars for a territory. You can always play it again once you have more powerful units.

I find the game is super addictive as I can’t put my focus away and have to focus on protecting my territory from enemy attack. This is where the fun and enjoyment come.

However, I notice that battery life seems to be an issue with AntHill. The game is running high quality graphics and sound but it also drain battery faster than other game I have played before.

Download a copy of free AntHill game and start your ant empire now!

If you are ever use Windows 98 before, you will know what it mean by frequent application crash and make you feel frustrated with the system. Apple releases the cool and a lot of great features on iOS 5.0.1 but does it good enough to run on all the apps without performance issue?

The graph grab from Forbes website. It is clearly show that the latest iOS 5.0.1 crash the most out of other older version. Even compare with Android apps, it does not crash as much as iOS apps.

Many people may wonder why most of the apps crash after they upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 This happen to me too as well. The newest iOS is eating up a lot memory compare to existing version. If you jailbreak your iPhone and install SBSettings, you can easily notice the memory usage is now more and drain faster than before.

One of the reason is the limitation of the hardware. I am using iPhone 3GS and with the limited 256 MB RAM (which left only half MB to run apps) is really very low compare with other Android devices in the market now. Although the current iPhone 4S had 512 MB RAM (consider Samsung Galaxy S2 is already on 1 GB RAM), Apple iPhone 4S could be running slow on apps after 1 year plus of usage.

Another reason is the iOS apps design. Apple iOS is design to run on low memory device but the new iOS 5 does not seem to be efficient enough especially many people reported their iPhone 4S battery drain faster than their iPhone 4 which does not make sense.

Unlike Android OS, Apple iOS does not allow users to update their apps automatically whenever there is a new update from developer. Thus, some users don’t update their apps. Imagine having more than 50 apps update and you need to manually update each of them. Although not all apps are used by users but they could forget to update the apps by the time they want to use the apps and developer is already fix the bugs in newer update. Then, crash happen to their device.

To protect the apps from crash, the system need to be clever enough to release unused memory when there is low memory warning. Many iOS developers also complain the Apple apps approval system is too strict and it could take weeks for the updates to appear in the App Store while Android could get the latest update almost in real time.

Liquipel is a preventative coating using the latest waterproof technology to safeguard your iPhone and prevent any water go into the device. The awesome thing is that you can even play video and run any application in the water.

In any event, the iPhone is coincidentally contact with water, it can repel the water out. The waterproof case is very useful situation like this or will it possible to bring your iPhone to the swimming pool and take underwater picture?

Liquipel coating costs $59 and has a 1-2 day turnaround.

Rumor saying that the most anticipated iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 could be using Liquipel waterproof coating technology as the selling point also.

Waterproof technology is still very new in the market. We won’t expect the technology to become popular. Most digital cameras already equip with such feature but hardly seeing much popularity from the crowd unless it has some cool feature to offer.

Are you always working with water? This product will help you in case your iPhone drop into the water accidentally. It is not suitable for everyone but if you are looking for something unique to impress your friends, Liquipel coating could do the job fairly well.

Check out the official website to find out more information of the waterproof coating.

Add repo.siriport.ru source to Cydia

Reboot your device.

Install the Certificate from the website siriport.ru/1.crt
